In an
era where things do not proceed as planned
I watched "Parasite," the first
Korean movie to win this year's Academy Award in a language other than English.
Against the backdrop of an unequal society, the story unfolded quickly and
unexpectedly. The income gap between the rich and the poor is a common problem
in modern society. More than that, what makes us think in this movie is the
uncertainty of modern society where things just don't proceed as planned. Those
who seem wealthy can lose everything in an instant. Just like the current
situation with the coronavirus, who would have expected such an unprecedented
spread across the world? We live in an era where an infectious disease from
china can spread at such a rapid rate to the rest of the world. However, from
the words of the Bible, we are able to find a hope and peace that transcends
time. In an era of uncertainty, we want to find hope in the unchanging words of
the Bible.
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains, where does my
help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of Heaven and Earth.” –
Psalms 121:1-2
